Larry Burnat has more than 34 years of professional legal experience with a strong focus on representing clients in jury trials for business litigation issues, such as contract litigation and real estate litigation, as well as products liability and personal injury cases. He represents a wide range of financial institutions, large corporations and the FDIC in various issues pertaining to creditors' rights and bankruptcy. Larry has also represented plaintiffs and defendants in numerous cases involving breach of fiduciary duty, trade secrets and unfair competition.
Having spent more than 30 years representing cable television and broadcast media businesses, Larry has spoken on numerous occasions to both the Broadcast Cable Credit Association and the Broadcast Cable Financial Management Association on a number of topics, such as "the defense of preference actions," "joint and several liability of advertisers and advertising agencies," and "sequential liability in the advertising business."
Experience- Jury verdict of $13,000,000 (including $4,000,000 punitive damages) plus attorney’s fees in Lanham Act/ state law unfair competition/breach of contract case in federal district court against Fortune 500 company arising out of the sale of a subsidiary of the defendant.
- Recovered $5,000,000 on behalf of the FDIC under an oil reservoir insurance policy, which was issued by a foreign insurance company that did not have a U.S. office. The policy had been procured through fraudulent activity and used as collateral at a federally insured institution.
- Defense verdict in jury trial for manufacturer in products liability case of a high voltage electrical switch explosion which resulted in catastrophic personal injuries.
- Successful defense verdict in probate litigation where executor was accused of wrongful conduct involving more than $6,000,000.
- Recovery of $700,000 in litigation on behalf of the landlord of industrial property against a Fortune 25 corporation for property damage at lease termination.
- Successful representation in jury trials for plaintiff and defense in catastrophic injury (quadriplegia) cases.
